Q. Where is the 24-hour reading room?

Answer

Due to Covid restrictions the 24 hour Reading Room remains closed.

There are two 24-hour areas of the Library. Kinsella Hall is on the first floor of the Ussher building and can be used by all members of College. You enter from outside the library, up the steps from the cricket pitch. You’ll need your TCD ID card to open the door.

During termtime an additional two floors of the Ussher Library are available for overnight study.

Postgraduates can also use another area called the 1937 Reading Room, which is located in Fellows' Square by the Old Library. You'll need a postgraduate or staff ID card to gain entry.

Both these areas are open for the vast majority of the year. In normal circumstances, they are only closed on the night of the Trinity Ball and over Christmas when College itself is closed to visitors.
